DEECOM™ uses a patented combination of superheated steam application and a pressure swing atmosphere to degrade PET and wash it away from the substrate component.
In the case of PET filter elements, a melt phase removes the majority of the polymer leaving a residue which is softened and exfoliated from the pores of the filter by the pressure swing.
Relatively low temperatures and pressures are applied during cleaning |
The absence of air means there is no risk of the delicate filter media deforming or degrading as is possible in an oxidising atmosphere |
In fact, it has been shown that DEECOM™ can extend the life of a filter element beyond that expected from tri-ethylene glycol (TEG) solvent cleaning |
Health and Safety features include failsafe temperature, pressure and leak detection devices and of course the absence of hazardous substances improves working conditions for operators |
All process conditions are controlled via a PLC which can be read, diagnostically tested and adapted remotely using a modem connection. The process features and design engineering are tailored to the type of component and contaminant for cleaning. Process times are comparable to those expected of a TEG solvent or pyrolysis system.
| The process has applications in fields and industries far beyond the PET market: |

Other Polymerics |
